About Bryan Berard

Bryan Berard was drafted first overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. After winning the Calder Trophy in 1997 for top rookie player in the NHL, Berard had a long and illustrious 11 year career with 6 NHL teams. Known for his unwavering determination, Bryan Berard has one of the greatest comeback stories in hockey history In 2000 he survived a debilitating eye injury and many thought his playing days were over. He overcame the injury, gave back a 6 million dollar insurance check and returned to play the game that he loved. Today he stars on the hit reality skating show,"Battle Of the Blades." and he skates for a great cause. Do It For Daron (D.I.F.D) is a youth-driven program focused on raising awareness and inspiring conversations about youth mental health at The Royal Ottawa Foundation For mental Health
