No word yet from the camps of Jay -Z or Beyonce on the elevator attack by Solange Knowles at the Standard Hotel, but it is being reported that Solange was upset that her friends were denied entry to the Met gala after party at the Boom Boom Room and she took it out on Jay-Z when he told his wife that he was going to Rihanna’s after party alone. In the now infamous video, Beyoncé’s little sister roughed up the Brooklyn rapper and delivered several kicks to the balls before being restrained by a burly security guard.
The black and white grainy elevator video blew up the internet today, with no word on what provoked the singer/DJ to unload on her brother in law. But as the New York Post wrote late this afternoon, it’s not the first time Beyoncé’s sister has demonstrated erratic behavior. Last summer she cancelled European tour dates, citing “mental/physical health.”
“I wish I could put in words how much of a difficult decision this was,” the singer, 27, wrote on her website after relocating to Brooklyn from Los Angeles with her son Daniel Julez, “but between moving part time to a new city, starting my son in a new school, and writing/recording my new record … I really had to make the best decision for my mental/physical health and provide some stability for my family.”
The two combatants emerged from the elevator looking shaken but not letting on as to what went down behind the closed doors of the lift. Jay-Z looked to be either wiping spit off his face or trying to cover the slap marks he just took to the jaw.
