You know that awesome moment when you come home and there’s a box sitting at your door? I don’t know about you, but I pick up the box, run up my stairs, and then open it even before taking my coat off. It’s like a little Christmas morning happening constantly throughout the year. After I take the new and exciting item out of the box, I generally put the box by the door and eventually take it down to the recycling bin after a few days. Then, when I do take it to the recycling bin I have a bad habit of not breaking the box down, which totally annoys my neighbor.
Recently, I learned about Give Back Box, which has given dignity back to the boxes that my online shopping orders come in. No longer do I kick the box aside once it has done its job of bringing me what I ordered, but it continues on a journey to bring smiles to other people’s faces. So how have boxes suddenly become magical? Because Monica Weila had an amazing idea and got the support from several companies to make it happen.
So how does Give Back Box work? After you shop online your purchase will arrive with an envelope like the one pictured below. Take the envelope out of the box along with your purchase. This is the point where most lose interest in the box that the purchase arrived in. Don’t throw the box in a recycling bin though! Instead, fill it up with unwanted items from your house like blankets, clothing, shoes, etc. Seal the box shut and put the pre-paid shipping label that came in the envelope with your purchase on the outside of the box. From there, ship the box as usual at no cost.
Amazing, right? You are probably wondering what happens if you receive a package from a business that is not yet participating with Give Back Box or if you have a bunch of boxes lying around that you’d love to fill and ship off as tax deductible donations. Well, all you have to do is visit www.givebackbox.com and click on the print label. Give Back Box will give you a free label to print and put on your box so your donation can be mailed off for free.
