Kentucky GOP Senator Rand Paul took to the airwaves on Monday night to express his support for Muhammed Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood.
Paul told Fox News that he is disappointed that the Obama administration didn’t do more to keep Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood cohorts in power in Egypt and the United States should pull it’s foreign aid to Egypt in what he calls a ‘military junta.”
The GOP senator took to Twitter saying, “In Egypt, governments come and go. The only thing certain is that American taxpayers will continue to be stuck with the $1.5 billion bill,” the Kentucky Republican tweeted.
“In Egypt, democratic authoritarianism is replaced with military junta. American neocons say send them more of your money,” Paul fumed in the second of two tweets.
Paul continued to throw his support behind the Muslim Brotherhood when he slammed President Obama for allowing Morsi to be ousted by Egypt’s military.
“Why hasn’t the Obama administration called what’s happened a coup?” Fox’s Eric Bolling asked. ” They’re confused, Paul said, adding that the administration’s biggest downfall is their erroneous belief that we can buy friendship and spread our influence through money.”
Many believe Rand Paul will be running for the White House in 2016 and he took a shot at one of his potential opponents yesterday. When asked about Rick Perry’s decision to not seek another term as Texas Governor and his future plans, the controversial senator said, “Well, I don’t know about what I’ve decided yet, but if Governor Perry decides to run for president, I think there are three good reasons he could be president,” Paul told Sean Hannity. “You know, Texas is a big, successful state; he’s a long-term governor — I can’t remember the third one, but, uh.”
Paul’s comments were referring to Perry’s presidential debate gaffe last year when he said he would immediately cut three government agencies but couldn’t remember which ones.
