The term “you’ll never work in this town again” was most likely what Lynne Ramsay has been hearing over the last 24 hours.
Ramsay was hired to direct the new Natalie Portman film “Jane Got A Gun” but the Scottish director never showed up for the first day of shooting.
“I’m shocked and so disappointed someone would do this to 150 crew members who devoted so much time, energy, commitment and loyalty to a project, and then have the director not show up,” producer Scott Steindorff told Deadline.com. “It is insane somebody would do this to other people.” Portman is also a producer on the film.
Portman, Jude Law and Joel Edgerton have been cast to star in the Western that tells the story of a young woman who defends her farm and husband against an outlaw gang with the help of an ex-lover.
In a classic tale of Hollywood nepotism at its finest, the producer’s daughter was the disgruntled directors rep.
When asked for a comment about her client’s absence, the producer’s daughter said, “My father Scott Steindorff prevails under extreme amounts of stress and the show will go on,” Jessica Steindorff said to HuffPost Entertainment via email. “Sorry, but in this town it’s family first.” The younger Steindorff wrote that she no longer manages Ramsay.
Ramsay gained notoriety in 2011 with the release of the indie film “We Need To Talk About Kevin.” Hopefully, Ramsay really enjoys making low budget indie films because Hollywood and especially the insurance companies that put up the bonds for films are not known to be very forgiving to anyone who disrupts a production.
Tinseltown is not kind to quitters.

Hey D Taylor. What a lovely irrelevant picture of Natalie Portman you have to illustrate your report.
On second thoughts, it sums up your coverage: barely there, and generic in its appeal. Have you done any research of your own? Can you fairly call Ramsay a quitter when you haven’t even gotten off your butt to find out her side of the story. Shame on you and your shitty website
Hey T Daylor, Maybe you should do some research yourself before you leave dumbass comments on a story. There is no other side of the story moron, Ramsay hasn’t released a statement on why she quit, nor did she call, email or txt anyone. She just went straight up MIA. And who doesn’t love a sexy shot of Princess Amidala?
