Sports Illustrated released it’s 2013 swimsuit edition on Monday and even though TMZ leaked the cover over the weekend, most guys who are freezing their butts off around the country were happy to see Kate Upton on the cover in just a jacket.
But the cover is nothing compared to Upton’s body paint spread inside the “sports” magazine. Upton is completely naked with a painted on bikini bottom and a painted necklace.
Sports Illustrated has been running a body paint spread since the late nineties. Antione Verglas photographed a twenty something Heidi Klum before she became a reality show host and a mom. But I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a more voluptuous model grace the pages of the swimsuit issue.
Most of the models are skinny high fashion models that stand 5’10 and weigh 112 pounds. Upton looks more like the girl next door and obviously this is a look the folks over at SI are liking very much with Ms Kate earning the cover two years in a row.
Last year the creative director at Victoria’s Secret slammed Upton for being over-weight and having a store bought face. Upton is the only big name model in the business that doesn’t need the lingerie giant to be wildly successful and earn tens of millions of dollars a year.
The truth is that Kate Upton is becoming an American icon while the women at Victoria’s Secret are busy vomiting last night’s dinner. Upton is proof that you don’t need to be 5’10 and a size 2 to be successful in the business.
