Kathy Lee said - ”And you and Nancy have one of the greatest marriages of anybody in show business. How many years now for you guys?” after a very brief stumble and hesitation this was his answer - ”We … have … married … 36 years.”
So, you may be saying, well Troy, whats the big deal? The deal is that Short’s wife has been dead for 2 years. Nancy Dolman died in August 2010 from ovarian cancer.

Three things: 1) KLG’s producers should have given her a quick heads up on recent events in his life even if they presumed she knew about his wife’s death. 2) She shouldn’t have gone off script – but perhaps that’s the way that show rolls. 3) Martin Short is a class act.
