When NBC announced that Howard Stern would be joining as a judge on the family show “America’s Got Talent”, the attack was on by others to prevent this unthinkable act of treason upon the American Public. Was it the same Howard Stern that berates people and invites strippers on his radio show ?
Like many good hearted Americans, I wanted to see what it was all about. AGT premiered Tues night on NBC and it was hollywooood from start to finish !
I have seen AGT in the past, but this was not the same show. The new production of AGT far exceeded its past . . . exciting ! Americans of all types and ages auditioned to appear before Howard Stern, Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne. I expected Howard Stern to be entertaining, but Sharon Osbourne was pretty good.
I was waiting for Howard to rip into a performer, but he didn’t. In fact, he showed his passionate and sensitive side with the struggling and nervous performers. Some of the performances brought tears to the eyes of the audience, whether it was the homeless contortionist, the 49 year old wanna be rock singer, the 80 year old rapper Granny G, or the brazilian male nurse opera singer with the bulging eyes.
AGT has set the pole high for shows like American Idol, X Factor, The Voice and others, I forget the name of. Unlike the others, AGT welcomes all types of acts and ideas . . . new, old and different.
See you next Tues AGT !
