A cyber war has broken out between a right-wing conservative security expert and the hacktivist group, Anonymous. Tom Ryan is playing with fire by trying to start a cyber-smear campaign against some of the organizers of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Some of those organizers are Anonymous members.
Hopefully Tom Ryan gets his ass handed to him the same way another right-wing conservative security CEO did last year when it went after Anonymous. Aaron Barr took on Anonymous last year and tried to reveal their identities. Barr failed miserably and Anonymous struck back by leaking all of his private information all over the internet, and Barr was fired.
We here at News Burner are big fans of Anonymous. We believe that if they dig deep enough, they will most likely find the dirt to bring Ryan to his knees. Yesterday Ryan leaked what he said were more than 3,900 emails sent to an Occupy Wall Street mailing list called September17discuss. Now they’re being used by conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart to smear the movement. The emails show that Occupy Wall Street is a “conspiracy to ‘destabilize’ Global Markets,” Breitbart says!
Ryan and Breitbart fired the first shot here and it’s time for Anonymous to take them down. Also, Ryan can try to smear the OWS movement all he wants. His audience or should we say the small group of idiots that will listen to him, pale in numbers compared to the global support that the Occupy Wall Street movement is gaining by the hour.
OWS has started a global economic repudiation that has people, many of them young, around the world protesting the corrosive power of major banks and national corporations on economies from New York to London to Rome to Tokyo to more than 1,500 cities across the world to date. Tom Ryan is small potatoes but it should be amusing to see what the powers at Anonymous have in store for him. For more on the story, check out our friends at[Gawker]
